airports and piercings?!?!

i fly out in about a month and i have my nipples pierced, i’m flying with my dad aswell, and he doesn’t know i have them and i don’t want him knowing. i’ve had them about a year and they are healed and i change them frequently but am too afraid to leave them out for extended time. will they make the security go off ? should i buy plastic ones ?

I would get plastic ones if that’s an option just to be safe. Also don’t wear ones that are too noticeable. Or just wear a light jacket. ☺️

piercing jewelry is usually made of surgical steal and should not make a metal detector go off. I however have never been in this situation so I am not 100% sure

My mother works in security at the airport in my town and look they shouldn’t go off, if it’s titanium it’s less likely to go off than steel on a hand held wand but just being scanned no worries at all, she tells me how many people ask her if their piercings set off the alarm and most the times it’s from a bracelet or a belt they didn’t take off 😂😂😂

They won’t set off the big machine that you stand in but they could set off the handheld wand if you get chosen as a random search.

I've never had my piercings set off a metal detector. 
If you're really concerned you can buy plastic spacer to temporarily put in them and put your jewelry in your bag.
