Should I decline my first ultrasound?

Tuesday is the day I've been waiting so long for will finally be here, I'll be getting my first ultrasound and we're so excited to finally hear the heartbeat. However,  if they can't find the baby abdominal, should I decline a transvaginal ultrasound since I've heard of ladies having miscarriages after them. Im only 8wks.  Have you heard of it happening?

What? I have never heard of this. I had my first ultrasound transvaginal at 6 weeks and my baby is completely fine. You should totally be fine!!! 😊

A transvaginal ultrasound absolutely will not cause a miscarriage. They are the method most commonly used for early ultrasounds. There is no safety reason to decline.

I'm high risk. I've had 3 internal ultrasounds. I've never heard of the wand causing miscarriage, BUT it could cause spotting. Which I'm assuming is where the myth comes from. The spotting is caused by blood vessels that have some to the surface getting irritated or bursting. Its absolutely fine. That will happen having sex also.

That’s 100% a myth. I had sooo many transvaginal ultrasounds when I was pregnant with my daughter.

Jesus. That is NOT true. Definitely do the ultrasound, people going around saying that are crazy. Don't believe it.

I had a transvaginal at 8 weeks and it was fine. In fact, everyone I’ve known had transvaginals for their first scan as well.

Yes, I am one of the unfortunate ladies who had a miscarriage at 7 weeks the day following a tv ultrasound. And I’ve come across over 30 other women on this app alone who had the same experience. I was shit down by others telling me they’re 100% safe and it never happened to them and I’m making an excuse for why it happened. My own husband didn’t believe that was the cause either, but one day all was fine with a strong heartbeat and the next day I had a miscarriage. Too coincidental for me, I’m pregnant with my rainbow baby and we declined all internal ultrasounds. My first appointment was 12 weeks 6 days.
