FTM here
FTM here! I was due July 23 and since my doctor didn’t want me to go past 41 weeks, we scheduled an induction for July 26. I went in at 2cm dilated and 70% effaced. At 3am they gave me an oral pill to start ripening my cervix; after just one dose I was having really painful contractions by 7am. (Side note I got up to pee that morning and my mucus plug straight up fell out of me and I accidentally stepped/slipped on it barefoot and almost bit it in front of the nurse and my husband 😂). The contractions felt like the worst period cramps imagineable and I lasted about 2 hours before I got an epidural.
So from 7am to 4pm I went from 2cm to 9cm. Long story short from 4pm to 7pm my body stalled out at 9cm. Like legit would not dilate past 9cm. Then, because the baby’s heart rate was indicating distress with each contraction, I had a fever, and my blood pressure was being whacky from the epidural, my doctor said we needed to do a c-section. She was mainly worried they’d have to increase the Pitocin to get me to 10cm and then my baby would be in major distress. I cried. I really didn’t want a c section....
First words my doctor said when she saw him was, “He’s Huge!! Where were you keeping him?!?!” I am a pretty petite person and she had estimated our baby was like 6.5 pounds. He was 8.7!
So even though it was a frustrating experience and I was upset to have a c-section, I guess I’m kinda glad I didn’t have to push out a “huge” baby.
Also we waited until birth to find out the gender and I was right! Had a feeling it was a boy the whole time!

Our little Eric just turned 1 month this past weekend and we are sooo in love
