does anyone else have major guilt bc they can’t breastfeed?

I don’t want to get into details, but the fact I couldn’t breastfeed makes me so sad. Just thinking or talking about it makes me want to sob, and everyone asks you about it when you have a baby. I can’t get over it because that’s everyone’s first question. 😭

It’s no one business if you bf or not.   There are many reasons women don’t.  They are all different and it a very personal choice. Don’t feel bad.  Is you baby healthy and happy. Than all that matter. And your own sanity.  It that makes sense.  All your baby care able is if mammy and daddy love me and food.

I feel so guilty! 😞 my milk dried up 2 days after giving birth.. don’t know why but it just did. I hate when women judged & say “breast is best” but don’t know that there are women out who can’t do it even though they wanted to. Even tho I feel guilty every time I make a bottle with formula & sometimes cry about it, I just think at least my baby is being fed & that is all that matters.

I went through the same thing. Having a natural birth and breastfeeding was what I was looking forward to most. Logan was breech so we had to have a c section and then I breastfeed for 2 1\2 months but with his first big growth spurt I wasn't able to keep up. It was becoming too stressful to pump every 3-4 hours for only like 2 ounces. I cried for awhile because I felt guilty that i didn't try hard enough and wasn't able to produce enough for him. Once you realize that FED is best not breast is best you will feel better. You do what you have to do to keep your baby healthy and happy. I understand the feeling of guilt but sometimes things just don't work out the way we planned or hope. I'm assuming your baby is healthy and that's what matters most. Don't let anyone make you feel bad or less than because you're not breastfeeding. It just doesn't work out for everyone it's as simple as that. Most people don't understand everything that it involves also and how stressful or painful (for some) it can be. As long as your baby is healthy be thankful for that in my opinion. 💕

It was hard for me with my 2 yo. I was crying for like a week cause I could’t do it. But I kept telling myself that I’m not a failure and that my baby is getting fed and is healthy which is all that matters.
With my last LO (5 months old) I decided I was going to exclusively pump my breast milk and bottle feed. I’ve been doing this since about day 4. I tired to BF but we had latch issues and my nipples are short apparently so it was even harder to get baby to latch. 
I have been able to pump and he has been getting only my breast milk since then. Which makes me feel so good. I don’t care how he gets it, just as long as he gets my breast milk. I have even been able to pump a little extra and put it in the freezer. 
It does take a huge commitment to pump as often as baby feeds and for as long as it takes you to empty your breast but after a while it’s easier. Something to consider before you give up on the thought of providing your baby with your milk.

I’m having that feeling of guilt right now. My daughter is almost 11 weeks. She was EBF for the first month or so. But I never really pumped because A) I got so little when I pumped, especially after the morning and B) she never let me put her down. So whenever I was out and about after about 6 week, she was formula fed. When my parents visited we were out and about very often and my milk supply has been decreasing ever since. As I type this right now it’s been 14 hours since my daughter was breastfed  and it feels like my boobs are totally empty. This is not the way I wanted to do it. I had planned on breastfeeding her much longer, and it upsets me that I’m going to end up stopping so early.

I feel like it’s so odd that it’s people’s first question. At any other point in your life, do they ask what you’re doing with your tits or what your children are eating that day? No, because those are weird questions. There’s no medal for breastfeeding or natural childbirth, you can talk about it all you want but ultimately the only person who cares is you. Harvard won’t ask if they were breastfed as a baby in their application. You do it for yourself and nobody else - and if you can’t, you feed your child and move on with life. When people ask “are you breastfeeding?” say “I find it odd how many people are suddenly interested in my breastmilk” and change the subject.
