How to pump more?

Question

I’m solely pumping due to having preemie twins who were not latching for nursing. I am pumping every 3 hours (sometimes during the day I do 4 hours) and only still pumping the same amount. My girls are almost 3 weeks. Will I only ever pump the same amount? How do I get more?

Answer

At this point you SHOULD be pumping every two hours (I assume you feed them about every two hours??).  This is super annoying and exhausting, but it DOES help build your supply.
 
Also, do not do a timed pump.  Pump until it pulls three times with little to no milk coming out.  Also note that one side may finish faster than the other - perfectly normal.
 
Watch your diet and water intake.  As in, be sure you are at least snacking (healthy-ish snacks) every 3 hours or so.  And at least one glass of water EVERY TIME YOU PUMP.  This also helps your supply.
