Did anyone name their son with Son name or name meaning son of??

Did anyone name their son a “son”

Ending name or name means son of referring to dads name as the old tradition??

Example Thomas had a son named him Thomason son of Thomas or

James has a son and the son is named Jameson?

Just was trying to learn about this tradition as it seems interesting and seen many names meanings say means son of.. and curious if any do this today.

Let me know and any info is much appreciated! Of course only if dad is a honorable man to name after I would never my ex but my so now has good character and is a successful business man and man of his word and faithful.
