Does anyone just stop functioning when they get their period and are cramping

I use to never get period cramps or when I did they were mild and barely noticeable. Since having kids and getting my tubes tied....I have the worst cramps ever! Like contractions all over again! It's not every month but maybe every other period and only on the first day of my period. So I understand the pain but I feel sorry for the ladies that have pain like this every period.

It depends for me sometimes I would have periods without cramps but sometimes  I wouldn’t be able to get out of bed because of the cramps
