Why do parents..

Say they have a 24 month old instead of saying 2 year old?

I think at doctors appt they measure the child’s development in months while they are young, so probably a habit. I never really understood why it bothered some people

Because developmentally there’s a difference between 24 months and 26 months. 
And because they can. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It kinda irrirates me too, even if the baby is 26 months you can always say 1 year and 2 months. 
I heard someone say the other day their "baby" is 48 months.. 😂🤣😂🤣

Because each month when they're that young is so different, I could say my kid is 1 and I could be talking about a baby still crawling or a toddler running and talking. If I say 18 months it gives a better idea of what stage they might be at. I stopped doing it around 2 years old. 
To some each month is another milestone so you remember each one and just respond with months because that's how you view their age
Though in all honesty, I didn't do this much at all with my youngest, mostly because I could never remember how many months he was!

Cause they can 🤷🏻‍♀️ after 18 months I stopped saying it and I say 1.5 years old... 
but 2 years is 24 months so who cares 🤷🏻‍♀️
