Getting to know Alex (Chapter 1)
I wasn’t much of a charmer. If anything I was completely hard to read, understand, to talk to. No one got me. Until one crisp October morning I moved into the same apartment complex as Alex. He was mysterious and quiet. His words left me out of breath and wanting to know more. To continue to talk with him. To get inside his head. He lived just across the hall. Always there to greet me when I left for work. Always there to tell me “Good night” when I got home. He had long black hair that fell to his chest when he took it out of his high bun. It was curly and always smelt like the cologne samples you find in magazines. He dressed almost the same. Straight blue jeans, a t-shirt and some sort of hat. His arms and core were chiseled. I could see them through his clothes when I could sneak a peak from his gaze. He was tall. Olive skinned and his voice was deep and put you in a trance. He was the first man, to make me crave him. I’ve never put much thought into men. I always had bad luck, and decided after my last failed relationship, that I would focus on myself. After college, I went on the journey to find myself and my career. Somehow, I ended up in a rink-a-dink town in Oregon. I was studying the wildlife and the patterns they created. Alex thought this was the most amazing job to have. I’ve asked what his job was, but he refuses to give me a direct answer. Always changing the subject. Something about him draws me in... I can’t help but want more.
