we want to buy a house! does anybody know how we go about getting a first home buyers loan?  we have no idea how to start the process. but we really need a bigger house. we have a 11y/o. 2 y/o. 1 y/o and a baby girl due in Jan! lol bigger house is a must!

You should meet with a lender so they can run your credit scores and get you a pre approval of how much you can afford. They can tell you what the interest rate is currently, and maybe if you can do something to help your scores (if you need it). They will help you know how much you should have in the bank and check your debt to income ratio. Then find a realtor once you’re ready to put an offer on a house.

My fiancé and I searched lenders and then called them. We narrowed it down to only two and did their application. Scott who we ended up going with definitely helped us. Being first time home buyers was scary. He went over what are budget was prior to house searching then we chose a realtor to only show us places within the budget. I know some go through a bank though. Either way you need to talk to someone about your options.

We started off by going to the bank and getting pre-approved to see what our budget would be. Then we worked with a buyer's agent letting them know what area we were interested in, our budget and other house related wishes. We started saving up for a downpayment based on 20% down on the top end of our price range. My husband and I also had to agree on what would be a deal breaker for each of us, and what we would be willing to compromise on. Good luck!
