Is the keto diet deadly?

At one point I really wanted to try the Keto diet but then I started seeing more and more articles like this pop up. What are your experiences with it?

Not when done correctly. The problem with this is that it’s a lifestyle change which is meant to be kept up with. When used as a crash diet or to quickly lose weight (which seems to be how most use it), yes. It can be dangerous. Especially when half assing it and not keeping macros in check, there’s so much more to it rather than just cutting back on carbs and upping fats. It’s something that needs to be adequately researched and  looked into before starting to make sure you’re willing to put in the effort it requires which is where a lot of people go wrong with keto. When done properly, it’s not dangerous or deadly.

myself and my mother have been on and off keto for years, many people live on keto for their own health reasons. making sure sources are accurate in what is true and what is not is important. many people will have different opinions on keto but eating fats is a must, of course theres healthy keto and dirty keto. dirty keto is usual fattening foods you avoid but now eat mass amounts of and clean keto is a better version of it aka avocados and nuts. its all about finding what works for your body and what works i dont believe it will hurt to try it! it works i lost 15kg!

Diets in general are hardly ever approved by medical professionals...for a reason. Some can completely deplete you of vital components for your health, and some just don't do anything. I'm not saying that "fad diets/named diets" are all bad, but you have to really look at every aspect.

I did it for 4 months. Hated every second of it. I felt like complete shit for the first month, and it didn’t get much better. It also had an increase in headaches and I ended up with Keto rash... basically I was super itchy and starting to break out in rash. Thankfully, I caught it before it got bad. And in the end, I only lost like 14lbs. Wasn’t worth it and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

As with any diet you will find people it works for and people it doesn’t. Doctors who recommend and doctors who say don’t do it. You have to find what works for you and you only. Some people respond wonderfully to Keto, some people get sick and barely lose anything. I used Keto for 3 months and lost 35lbs but when I started to lift weights I felt like crap and needed carbs so I added them back and continued to lose.
I also know some who lift very heavy and do Keto with no problem. So find something you can maintain and doesn’t feel like punishment and makes you feel good while losing. Good luck!
