Baby girl name?

Question

We are getting close to finding the gender of our first baby. We have a boy name totally set, but are stumped for a girls name. 
I worked on a labor and delivery unit and looked through all the baby names and saw "Ireland" one time.
What do you think of Ireland with the nickname Iree (I-ree)?

I think it’s cute. No different than people naming their kid Cali or Carolina.

One of my employees names is Nicole Ireland and she goes by Ireland. If I wasn’t her boss, I’d never know that it was her middle name. Really fits her. Super cute!

I think Iree as a nickname is adorable but I personally don't like Ireland as a name.  I'm not a fan of country names in general. I think it creates a weird situation where you permanently feel connected to that place, but if you ever actually go there you look really awkward and even more of an outsider than normal foreigners. Most locals would tend to think it's ridiculous and like a joke to have their country as a name. So you feel connected but also really really are not a part of that place at all. I've just always thought that sounds uncomfortable, so I don't like country names as people names.

My uncles wifes name is Irish.
