Mirena weight gain?

So I gained 10lbs in the first 12 days of having mirena. I told my doctor about t today and she swears that Mirena can’t cause weight gain but I just think it’s funny that I gained THAT much in such a short time right after I got on it. Especially because I haven’t changed my eating habits.... has anyone else gained weight on it?

I got it 8 weeks after my daughter was born. In that 8 weeks before getting it, I had lost 15 pounds, and after the first year of having it, I had gained that all back plus an additional 10. I felt horrible about myself since I've always been on the smaller side and I ended up weighing 10 pounds more than when I was pregnant. It also made me super moody and overall feel like crap.

I gained 17 pounds while on mirena for 8 months! Had the doctor tell me I needed to lose the weight and swore up and down it wasnt from the mirena🙄 Even tho I hadn't changed my diet and was doing yoga daily. 
Had it removed and now it's been a slow process losing the extra weight.

Same!!! I just had mine removed, I didnt gain it as quickly as you, but it was over about 3.5/4 months. Some other things I read had very similar experiences and it seemed to be mostly water weight and fell off shortly after having it removed, so we will see! Mine has only been out for a few days. My doctor also was like umm no that shouldn’t be a side effect 🙄

No. I have had it for 2 months and my weight has stayed the same. The hormones stay in your uterus instead of your blood stream so it's less likely. Progesterone can cause you to feel hungry. Only the shot is directly linked with causing weight gain. Weight gain on mirena occurs in less than 5% of users. If you're having trouble with it I wouldnt suggest any other hormonal birth control because they're all higher doses of the hormones.

I lost weight but that doesn’t mean its impossible to gain. Give it a few months for your body to get used to it and make sure you’re drinking enough water
