Insurance covering standard Ultrasounds?

US ladies, I recently had to switch health insurance due to my husband loosing his job. My insurance claims that all prenatal care is covered.  I had a 12 week scan (which is standard) and just received a $300 bill 🤮.  With my last pregnancy and all the ultrasounds leading up to this one, they were considered part of standard covered care.  I’m hoping it was coded improperly, but wanted to see if anyone else has gotten this charge.

It could be because the 12 week scan isn’t always considered necessary unless you’re high risk so it might not be included in your regular prenatal plan. Your best bet is to call the insurance company and ask!

So same? My insurance is supposed to cover it all but i keep getting billed for my ultrasounds. Its stressing me out and all hells about to break lose

You should just get insurance through your state. Then you won’t have to pay for anything at all

My insurance covers everything prenatal 100% but no ultrasounds :( really sucks

Wanted to update with our experience.   Our two insurances had the EXACT same explanation of maternity benefits in all the documentation we have.  Both Blue Cross Blue Shield and United claim “100% coverage of prenatal care, deductible does not apply.”  BCBS considered all labs and ultrasounds part of that standard prenatal care, United considers them labs and radiology which have no coverage until our deductible is met. 
What sucks is when we switched my husband called United before we went to any appointments and confirmed with them the coverage included ultrasounds and they straight up lied to him.  We’re looking into what our options are and will be filing complaints with any channel that will listen. 
Long story short - if you have a choice, avoid united healthcare at all costs!!

We have to pay for ours until we reach our deductible. The insurance will pay 10% and we are required to pay for the rest. Once our deductible is met we won’t have to pay. Our 8 week ultrasound was $500. Last time my 20 week was taken care of but any additional ones were our responsibility

Mine are $150, but that’s because I have a high deductible plan. A portion of it was discounted though. Otherwise I think it would be $300+

My ultrasounds/visits were only covered after I met my deductible. After that, I got a global bill for what my care would cost for the entire pregnancy. My insurance covers 90% of the care so I had to pay the remaining 10%. It ended up being $250 for my deductible and $500 for my global bill.
