Cold sore on toddler
I have a 9 month old baby and my boyfriend has a 4 year old from his previous relationship. We’ve been noticing in the corner of his mouth where his lips meet, he has what to me looks like a cold sore. His mom, a nurse, said it’s impossible and she’s never heard of a kid having a cold sore and that his lips are just chapped and he’s probably just picking at it. I said I would just put a little abreva on it just in case but she said you absolutely cannot put abreva on a child.. I think it looks a bit “bubbly” and my boyfriend doesn’t think so and is sticking to what his mom said. I’m just concerned because of my 9 month old. I’d rather be safe than sorry! He has a dr appointment tomorrow to get it checked out, so for now I’m putting Vaseline on it to keep a barrier. What’s your opinion? This is the best photo I could get.
