Sons family ?

So it’s been almost a year & 5 Months since I heard about my sons family or that they have contacted me about him. And today I received a message from his grandma asking how hesdoing . His father is not in the picture and doesn’t seem to cares. My son is 5 years old. I didn’t reply to her cause i don’t even know what to say. They stopped contacting me in April 2017.

So my husband's mother comes in and out of our son's life. Not as long as what you're dealing with, on average every 3 months she'll come around or text. My husband simply says "he's fine" and that's it. I don't consider her my children's grandma when there is absolutely NO reason she doesn't come around. Maybe a simple "good, thanks" if you want to keep it friendly. Or if you want to be kind of petty "he's doing great, really grown in the last year and a half since you've last seen him."
