Umbilical cord white?

Day 16, I’ve notice umbilical cord appears to gone white in places, it’s hard not pussy but a white colour. Does smell. Baby has been unsettled all night- doesn’t want to be put down.

16 days? That’s sucker should have fallen off by now. They might need to treat it with some silver nitrate to burn if off. I would definitely go in though. Especially if it has a smell. On the plus side, it doesn’t seem to be read or inflamed around the actual cord so that is a really good thing!

They didn’t take the clamp off before you left hospital? I would def go get it checked out! It never hurts :)

My babys cord fell off within the first week but it did start smelling abit as it dried out, although your baby’s cord doesn’t look dry yet so I’d definitely have it checked, make sure you keep it clean and dry and keep it out of the nappy to help it dry out

Smelly isn’t good. Have you been pulling it away from the skin and cleaning with alcohol underneath it to help dry it out?

I work in a vet office and I had to laugh at the word “pussy” because I’ve seen it written in so many charts. I know you meant it doesn’t have pus, but that’s not a word 🤣

I would have the pediatrician look at it, especially since it smells, doesnt look very pretty.

That looks infected. It should be dry and fallen off by now.
