40 weeks today. Any opinions on cervidil?

So I'm 40 weeks today and if I don't go into labor naturally this upcoming week, I'll be induced next friday night with Cervidil. Has anyone had any experience with it and can let me know what to expect or if it helped at all?

Just Got induced aug 21 with cervidil, was 37 weeks exactly dilated to 1 when i went in at 4am. They started the cervidil at 6am supposed to stay in until 6pm but contractions started at 10am get checked at 12pm dilated to 2cm , contractions got worse got check at 2pm was at 4 cm, contractions started to get unbearable got checked at 4pm was 6cm they took it out i got epidural then they broke my water at 6 had him at 7:19pm

Honestly I had that then pitcon the next day. It’s not bad at all just makes you feel like your getting period cramps. You do start to have contractions but in my case I was getting them just not enough to start labor on it’s own.

Had it with my 1st. Went in at 39 weeks,  was 3 dilated.  Inserted at 6pm, had him next morning at 948am. I was crampy all night,  wouldn't give me any kind of pain meds..  But in the end it's totally worth it :)

I am being induced Sunday but it's early at 37 weeks. They are starting with cervidil. I can update after.😊
