Is it safe to go through full body scanners at airports?

Im talking about these ones. The “millimeter wave detection”, that takes an actual picture of your body.

NOT the basic metal detectors. 
And this question is referring to during pregnancy.

They had me go through the regular one while I was pregnant but I was showing (not sure if that matters or not) my baby and I just went on a airplane a month ago and they asked me to go through the regular one again.

When I flew at 32 weeks, my doctor said it’s probably safe, but I should opt out of the body scanner and get a pat down instead.

TSA will tell you it’s fine but I think most drs will tell you to request the metal detector and take the pat-down option. I don’t think there’s really enough quality information about the effects available to risk it.
