3days late, negative test

I’m 3 days late and I’m never late but I took a test and it was negative. Not sure what to think. We’re not trying to conceive but I haven’t been on birth control in 3 months. Could it just be a fluke that I’m late?

UPDATE: after being 5 days late I woke up this morning with a heavy flow. What are some causes for being late other than pregnancy or stress since I’m neither?
