I’m FTM and 37 weeks. When do you usually put the car seat in the car and which side do you put it on? I feel so clueless!

Does it go in the middle, driver side, passenger side??

I’d put it in now. I’m a little over 38 weeks and my husband just installed the base in my car yesterday. Usually they say middle is the safest place to put the car seat. Our cars have the car seat anchors on the passenger sides so we are putting the car seats on the rear passenger side.

I went to a car seat tech. Not sure if you have one in your area but it’s a free service where I am and she did it for me and was very informative. Just did it at like 38 weeks. I left the base in but removed the seat. I put it behind the passenger because I have another child that sits behind me and I wasn’t gonna squish her. I’ve always thought middle was safest and if you can get a safe install there then I would do that however make sure you check your manual and stuff because sometimes car seats don’t fit properly in the middle and it’s all dependant on the seat you got and the way the car is. Because my car has a console that stuck out a bit further towards the back in the middle of the driver and passenger seats the tech actually recommended behind the passenger anyway because your baby seat shouldn’t be touching anything. So depending on how compact your car is and how tall your passengers are/you are... you may want to take all these things into consideration when deciding. All things I hadn’t thought about so I’m glad I was referred to an expert. Also she used a pool noodle to level the base of it. Like jammed into the crevice of the seat. Some seats are more like on an incline, you can roll up a towel or something too or maybe not need it at all, but the seat itself has a level on the side of it with a guide.

I’d only install the base. Otherwise if you get in a car accident you must replace it. And the best place is where you get the best install.

You can go ahead and install the car seat base now :) When I had one, I put her directly in the middle. Now that I have two, one is on each side. Just grab the actual car seat on your way to the hospital- mine is near the door so I don’t forget on the way out!!

Mine is in. I put it behind the drivers seat just so he will be easy to get out. I don’t think it matters as long as it is installed correctly
