IUI or IVF

I’m having the hardest time deciding on IUI or going straight to IVF.

Little background.. been trying for 15 cycles, during that time I had one pregnancy that resulted in an early miscarriage, which was in January. No luck getting pregnant after that. Started seeing an RE couple months ago. Bloodwork came back with high AMH, not too high around 4.5 which is considered border line, because of this his diagnosed me with PCOS, and put my on metformin. I have regular 30 day cycles and according to all the OPKs test I’ve done the last 7 month I ovulate if cycle day 15, at least according to the home OPKS I do. After all the other tests came back fine, including HSG, seaman analysis and an ultra sound which showed normal tubes and normal uterus, the RE suggested trying clomid, just to give me an extra chance of producing more than 1 egg. So far that’s been unsuccessful. RE says next time is IUI, but the percentage he gave us for that working is only 13.88%.

Each round of IUI will be roughly $1,800. He mentioned the words “unexplained infertility” which just sucks. I can get pregnant, I should be getting pregnant, but I’m not.

He mentioned IVF, priced us around $25,000 for one cycle. Odds of getting pregnant are a lot higher in the 50%. However with having a miscarriage earlier this year; I’m terrified to spend that much money to only realize my body can’t carry a full-term pregnancy. (I know chance of that are slim, but I’m sure you guys can relate when that much $$ is involved).

My husband has great sperm, the analysis was 168 million with a 48% mobility, so he’s not the problem.

Anyone can relate? Helpful success stories? This cycle we are doing clomid with a trigger shot and timed intercourse. If this does not work, I want to take the next step, either IUI or IVF.. thoughts? Comments?
