Under active thyroid problems & pregnancy

I suffer with an under active thyroid and my GP still hasn't managed to sort the dose out... It's been 6 years since I was diagnosed with it. Recently however, my GP lowered my medication cause my Thyroid Function Test failed and now I'm 7 days late on my period. It's impossible for me to be pregnant as my partner is still serving time inside prison so I know it's to do with my thyroid... I'm just wondering if there's anyone else out there who suffers with this and does it cause problems for pregnancy? Your periods? Does it make it more difficult to conceive? Does it cause miscarriages? I'm starting to get bad anxiety over it and me and partner are hoping he's home next Xmas and so we can start again for a baby but we can't do that with my thyroid skee whiff... Ile be seeing a new GP in a new GP surgery so I will request a new Thyroid Function Test but is there anything else i can do to help in the meantime? any advice is welcome! TIA
