What age can babies sleep with loose blankets over them? (Not swaddles)

I am a ftm and need some advice.

Both of my kids (5 yrs and 2 yrs) have slept with a blanket since birth. Even the nurses covered them up while in the hospital 🤷‍♀️ I'm almost due with our third and will do the same.

I have always swaddled my babies. I know you're not supposed to but it's the only way they would go to sleep.

They have to be at least a year old. Our 15 month old still doesn't have one and won't until she's 2 years old. There's zero rush to give them one.

My 7 week old only sleeps with loose blankets. He hates being swaddles even a little, will only sleep with a blanket over him. We just don’t put the blanket over his arms and he’s good to go.

I started at about 7 months. We practiced pulling the blanket off her face during the day :)

Birth but if your nervous just make sure it’s tucked under their arms

From birth, but we never used a blanket more a slightly thicker comforter/duvet in a baby size.
