When did you let baby “cry it out?”

This is our first baby but we are waiting until she is 6 months to begin the cry it out method. She loves to be held ALL the time so if I need to do something and absolutely can’t hold her (brush my teeth, grab a glass of water, eat), I’ll let her cry but that’s for 3 minuets max

Not until about 8 or 9 months old with our first. With this baby we will be waiting until AT LEAST that old again to do cry it out.

I strongly suggest waiting...like till a year or later. They aren’t old enough at this point to self soothe, so if they do stop crying it’s just because they are physically worn out/learned helplessness. Obviously a few minutes isn’t going to wreck them, but it’s not healthy at this point.

I’ve read not to do it before 4 months and even then only for short periods of time. I’m a FTM so I have no experience and I haven’t thought about when or if I will do it.

I think 6 months is a good time. I waited too long with my first (she was 1 y.o.). I think it should be done BEFORE they can pull themselves up to the standing position bc then you have to lay them back down. If you do it between 4 and 6 months when they stay laying down, that’s more than half the battle.

My baby has silent reflux and it's been very tough. Since she got put on Zantac it's much better but around 2 weeks she started having days where she cries 8+ hours at a time no matter what we do. She's 7 weeks now and I've never let her "cry it out" but will put her in another room and put headphones in for 15 minutes to keep my sanity.
