Would you get your daughters ears pierced as an infant?

I haven’t wanted to get my daughters ears pierced because I do believe it should be her decision but now I am being a tad selfish when I see all these little girls with it done and how cute they look. She is 3 months old. Should I keep my decision and let her decide when she is older? If you did let your girls decide, when did they want it done?

I remember i was around 6 or 7 when i wanted to do it. It was such a fun experience to go with my mom and pick the earrings and i felt very grown up. Thats why im waiting for my daughter to decide when shes ready, its a very fond memory of mine:) but i dont think its wrong to do it when they are babies just personal preference!

I have a hard enough time watching her get her shots, theres no way I’m hurting her so she can look “cute.” My oldest is almost 6 and I know she’s interested but when we talk about it and I explain the process she’s like nah. I got mine pierced when I was 9.

If you do it, that’s your prerogative- just do not go to a piercing stand or Claire’s. Go to a professional piercer. PLEASE.

Honestly my mom got my ears pierced as an infant and i am so grateful. I’ve tried getting a second piercing done multiple times from when I was 13 to 21 and it ALWAYS closes. If it weren’t for the one I got done when I was a newborn (and don’t remember obviously), I wouldn’t be able to wear earrings at all. So I’m grateful she got them done for me and for that reason I got my daughters done too. She didn’t even cry. She was more annoyed that someone was holding her ear. She doesn’t touch them or even know they are there and she looks so darn cute. I’m sure she will be grateful that I did it when she was younger then waiting till she’s older and more aware. If not, she can take them out. But to each their own. I don’t think it’s right for women to mom shame those who chose to parent differently.

Why everything is getting complicated these days? it’s just a piercing in a common place to wear cute earrings, it’s not like you want to pierce her tongue or belly button. Enjoy the moment and your little girl!!

Honestly we do it in our culture at three days for all of them 🤷🏼‍♀️.  I suppose it is cosmetic like a circumcision....
My kid is 16 now and it doesn’t seem to be interfering with her life having it done so little. I think you should do what feels right for you. Try a piercing studio if you want more info.  They are cleaner then the mall and have studied sterilization better.
