What would cause this change?

Question

I took the above test at 9:30 🕤 
Someone suggested I take another one in two hrs. I waited until noontime so 2.5hr later to take it. I didn’t have any water during the 2.5 hrs 
One looks so close it could almost be positive and the other is clearly negative. 
Did I miss my surge? 
Should I count the purple test as positive? 
I’m confused 🤷‍♀️

The top one is almost positive. My opinion is you took the next one too soon. I try to take one in the morning and one in the late afternoon/early evening when the tests start getting that close to positive. I don’t think you missed the surge, but just might not have had as much LH built up after only 2.5 hours. I would probably wait 4 hours if possible and test again

It all depends on when you took the tests. 
The day of your period being late, the first day, second or third day being late. 
It’s best to wait a week or more to get the best test results. 
Take another test, in the morning, first urine and go with that.
