Complete 180 degree turn around nursery!

Hollie

On September first (happy birthday to me!), my roommate moved out! I was 34+1 weeks. He had been living with my little family for almost two and a half years. In March we told him we were expecting baby number two and that he would have to move out by the end of August so we could prepare the room. He wasn't the best roommate and liked having his room full of trash and other things which I over looked because he paid for that space, he could use it how he pleased. On the first, he moved out and "cleaned" the room. I went over everything again as he wasn't very clean and left the walls rather dirty. Then I began the makeover!

This is our blank canvas my husband and I started with. We had chosen to go with a grey color, a darker blue and an almost mint green. We started by painting 3 out of the 4 walls grey leaving the last wall for an accent wall.

For the fourth wall we taped geometric shapes up with the help of big-sister-to-be telling us where to put the tape. Then we went to town painting the shapes different colors! My husband suggested painting the closet door in the same fashion and I agreed.

I waited for my husband to come home the next day before the big reveal of taking the tape off the door and wall.

It was incredibly satisfying to take the tape off and see all our hard work! After painting all that was left to do was to move the furniture in. We had a few pieces stored in my roommates room, a few in the hallways and others just anywhere they fit, lol.

From trash can to nursery, we did all of this in under 20 hours! I was just so excited that my roommate had moved that I couldn't wait to complete the room. The last few months had started to get rough with him being so messy and not caring that his uncleanliness was causing fruit fly issues in the house. I got hit with a strong nesting instinct which led to a lot of fights about cleaning.

I spent the rest of Sept 2nd in that room just enjoying all our hard work and getting excited all over again for baby number 2! My husband doesn't know the gender of our little one, but I do! He loves this room as much as I do and doesn't care what gender our baby is. He says the colors work either way. My mother-in-law has decided that we're having a boy and has brought her gifts already.

I am 36 weeks now and super happy with our work. I hope you all enjoy it too!
