I recently started communicating with a guy I use to know in high school and our moms were bf’s. Well his mom recently passed from breast cancer and his dad died when he was really young. So anyways we’ve been talking and texting for about 3 months are we’re getting ready to plan a real date and see if this relationship is for real. But I’m concerned because last night he told me he drinks a couple 5th’s of whiskey a week...and I’m like is that a lot and he said yeah I’m an alcoholic. He says he’ll quit if we start dating and get serious but he just can’t deal with the pain of his loss...which I understand but my moms terrified I’ll end up in a bad relationship if I continue on. Right now we’re long distance so not much contact to know if he’s genuinely an alcoholic but I’m concerned. He’s moving way fast like saying I love you before we’ve met and talking about the babies were going to have and us getting married next 4th of July. Am I crazy or is this just weird???

Update: Thanks ladies for your advice. I feel sorry this guy because I know him and the pain he’s going through but I agree that with him drinking that a relationship would be a bad idea.
