Toddler Boys Bits..Smell

Hi

I have noticed the last few days when changing my sons nappies he smells a bit off when you take his nappy off. Sort of like an un clean smell like he hasn’t had a bath for a few days. My son is bathed every second day but only gets double base cream in his bath as he has eczema so can’t use soap! Any idea what it could be? He has the doctors next week for his skin so will mention it then just wondering in the mean time.
