Baby is here!! Birth story 😊

Jan

Just wanted to share my labor and delivery experience.

I went to the hospital Sunday 9/9 with high blood pressure and lots of swelling. They decided to admit me and do a 24 hour urine test. Next day dr comes in and says they are gonna induce me. They insert cervidil for 12 hours and I dilate to a 1 and get 80% thinned out. After that they try another medication to try to get me to dilate more before they break my water. I didn’t dilate with that I just thinned out to 90%. At that point I was in so much pain and I was having back labor so I decided to get an epidural. After 3 hours they start the Pitocin and it does nothing at all. I stay at a 1cm and 90% thinned out. They decided to insert a folly ballon for 12 more hours. It stretched me to 3cm so they decided to break my water and start the Pitocin again. The epidural stopped working so they had to give me stronger medicine through the IV. After hours of waiting they came back in to check me and I didn’t progress. They epidural had worn off again and I was in SO much pain I begged them to give me a c-section because my body was not progressing on it’s on. It and already been 3 days and I was just tired of it. So they gave me more medicine again to ease the pain and start prepping me for a c-section. (It stopped working 3 times!!). I got back to the operating room and they put something even stronger in the IV but it didn’t completely numb me. They told me if I could feel anything to let them know and they would have to put me to sleep but I didn’t want to miss the experience of seeing my first child when she came out and I didn’t want her dad to miss cutting her cord and having the whole experience as well so I touched it out until they got her out and he was able to cut the cord. At that point i could feel EVERYTHING. I was so dizzy and throwing up. I told them to knock me out. I woke up and was taken to the recovery room and was able to nurse her right away. She was healthy as can be. 8 pounds 2 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long. 😊

Not every birth story is sunshine and rainbows.

I wouldn’t wish back labor on anyone!! Or being in labor for 3 days.. it was rough but it was definitely worth it.
