Membrane sweep

So Monday at my appointment (38 weeks 3 days) I was told I was 3 cm, cervix is still kinda thick, and hes -1 station. I've been loosing my mucus plug and have been having contractions. This coming Monday I have an appointment (39 weeks 3 days) do you think a membrane sweep would be a good idea to try if I make it to then? I have never had one done before. I was also told hes a big baby and I'm definitely feeling it, been in loads of pain. Both my previous babies were born 39 weeks 5 days.
