Baby shower

My so mom is gonna throw us a baby shower. It seems like she is taking over. Says we will have it after baby cause it'll be warmer. I said well for my first we rented some where an had it there she goes we could do that an have it at bla bla place. All I thought was.. why is it always up to you..I get she is throwing it but do I not get any say in it then? Or should I have her throw one an just have my side of the family at a different one.... cause she asked if my side is gonna throw one or not an if I wanted to invite them then or what
