BFP, OPK and Faint lines...
Whilst TTC I was constantly reading posts about OPKs, faint lines and early pregnancy symptoms. We had been TTC our second for 6 months and was starting to get a bit worried about secondary infertility. I spent a lot of time reading and googling it! When my BFP finally appeared I knew that I wanted to share my experiences to maybe help someone else in an similar situation. So here goes...
My first experience with opk (after 4 months of trying just using the glow ovulation predictor) was the clearblue digital, I never got my solid smiley and found the whole thing really stressful. We decided that it was a huge waste of money and so the next month I used the cheap opk sticks. I wasn't sure if I got my peak (I knew the test line was supposed to be darker than the control line but none of mine looked that dark) so I posted a picture as a poll. The majority of voters thought I'd not ovulated yet so I was a bit disheartened but I never got a darker test line that month (although as it turns out it was the month I did conceive). The TWW was pretty uneventful, the previous 5 had been littered with phantom symptoms that I'd convinced myself meant I was pregnant (sore boobs, sore back, 'implantation bleeding', cramps, etc.). I did so many tests (from as early as 8 dpo some months) but each month AF started on the exact day she was supposed to. This time I was much more relaxed and the only symptom I experienced (although I didn't think much of it at the time) was extreme tiredness. I took my first test at 10 dpo and saw the faintest line (so faint OH was adamant he couldn't see it). I made another poll to see if anyone else could see it and a few voters said they could but the majority also thought it was negative. Determined to keep testing I bought an ASDA early test which was difficult to see but definitely a line. The next day I bought a FRER and we finally had a line that OH could see!!
The month we conceived we BD 7 times, with 3 of those on the days around when I got my darkest opk test line (31st and 1st), we also used preseed (although not with the syringe like you're supposed to, we just put a bit on him), I had lost 11lbs and I had been taking prenatal vitamins including folic acid for
around 6 months before. We also tried to relax a bit more and I stopped obsessing about dpo and symptom spotting.
Thank you for reading my post. I hope it's helpful and I hope that you get your BFP soon. Much love and baby dust xxx
