What do doctors prescribe for postpartum anxiety?

Ive been struggling recently with postpartum anxiety , I thought I was handling being a first time mommy well but the past two weeks I have felt...just overwhelmed.I've always taking kolonpins for anxiety before and that being the only thing that helped but since it's a narco I don't want to take them since I'm still trying to breast feed.any one have a suggestion that has helped them?

An ssri might help take the edge off- it works different than klonopin which is an abortive agent that you take when you are having a panic attack. An ssri is kinda like if you had a heavy backpack of books on, the ssri helps lift it up so you don’t carry all the weight- it’s more subtle (not sure if that analogy will help but other people I’ve explained it to found that helpful). They do take 4-6 weeks to kick in though so it’s something that you have to stick with to see results. 
It’s really common to feel overwhelmed after pregnancy- you have tons of hormones swirling, no sleep, and a new normal. I think it’s awesome you recognize that you need some additional support! You go momma! It’s going to make you a better mom and help baby too in the long run!! 
Definitely talk to your doctor about options. New mom groups are also beneficial. Also, if baby is crying and you feel overwhelmed. Put baby down somewhere safe for a minute and take a minute for yourself!

Talk to your dr about Sertraline. I'm able to take it while pregnant and while I was breastfeeding my last baby.
