Self made new born pictures: help?

Are you using an iPhone or a camera? You can still take really good photos on your phone! Here are all my photography secrets:
Have good lighting. Either do outside (I like late afternoon or overcast) or light with a bunch of lamps from the bottom and top. 
Use the grid lines on your camera app. Your subject should take up 2/3 of the photo. 
Put the focus on the face. Keep it simple! Don’t try to be artsy / just get the crisp, simple portrait! 
Minimize the number of other things in the photo because your iPhone or camera will try to focus automatically on things closer than the face to the camera. 
Editing photos: less is more. turn the black point up a little bit. Turn the contrast up a little bit if you want. If your lighting was very yellow, youre prob going to want to turn the saturation down a little bit, and maybe slightly enhance the blue/cool tint. If the lighting was too blue, decrease saturation and increase the warmth.
