Taking dummy away?

My daughter will be 3 in December and I want to take her dummy away now. She used to only have it at nap time and bed time but since her sister arrived 10 months ago she’s been more attached to it! If I refuse to give it to her she throws a tantrum and will not stop screaming and crying! Do I just keep being strict and let her scream and cry??

I haven’t tried personally,  but I’ve heard that cutting a hole in it (like the tip off) makes it less appealing to them and easier to take away

My daughter ‘bought’ some toys with her dummies. Handed them to the shop assistant and that was it, cold turkey from there. Had a rough afternoon/night that day, lots of crying and begging to go back and get them. The next day it was hard to get her to sleep without them but she didn’t ask for them, just wanted me. 
Was so worth it. She was about 2 and a half when we did it

Yes let her scream and cry. And honestly, you may just have to take it away completely cold turkey. I’m not looking forward to taking my daughter’s away at sleeping times either

We took it away from our daughter at 15 months. I'd toss them in the trash and move on. No need to cut them or make it into this long drawn out process. Our daughter stopped whining for them after maybe 3 days and we've now been 100% pacifier free for a month. Zero issues! The sooner you do it, the better.

Just take it away for good. That’s what I did. I took it away one day, threw them all on the trash and never let my son touch one again.

She’s old enough to understand why she can’t have it anymore. We told my son we were giving all of his to new little babies who needed them. (He was just under 2 at the time, and had only been using them for nap and bedtime since about 6 months old). I was worried when his baby sister was born he would want his back because they’re very close in age, but we were firm with not giving it to him and he didn’t really seem interested. Tell her that you are going to be done with them, Give her a date (On Friday we’re all done with binkies!) and hold firm. You’ll probably have some tears but it won’t be the end of the world.

Have you got anywhere you got take the dummy to and she could give it away. Where we live there is a fairy trail and a tree with ribbons etc tied to it and parents take their children their to give their dummies, bottles etc to the fairies?
