It’s actually where the placenta—not the baby—is located in an early ultrasound up to 8 weeks with 6 weeks being the most accurate. It’s hard to tell where the placenta is sometimes and the actual placement of the placenta can differ depending on what kind of ultrasound (abdominal versus transvaginal) you receive. Often the image can be reversed from its true side so it is really difficult to tell unless you ask the ultrasound tech. I got transvaginal ultrasounds with all three of my babies and my girls’ placentas were to the left and my boy’s placenta was to the right.

Looking at an ultrasound and based on where the baby attached to the uterus you can tell if its a boy or girl I guess. You can Google it and it gives a good explanation

It’s been proven to be false, not supported by any proof, but many people do it for fun. Supposedly the location of your baby in your uterus can hint as to what gender it will be. It was wrong for both of mine
