Any help???? I’m overwhelmed 😔

So I moved to Portland OR from Japan a few years ago. It’s just me and my husband. I don’t have my family here or close friends. 
I don’t really know anything about pregnancy either and I just found out that I’m pregnant with my first one. I’m probably week 4. Made an appointment with my doctor for next week but I was just wondering if there’s any helpful source online or books about pregnancy. 
Like I really don’t know what to do, what to eat, or when to take a maternity leave, is it safe to work full during the first trimester? So many questions. Any help will be very appreciated 😭🙏🏻

Just breathe! Pregnancy really isn’t complicated, so try not to overthink it. 
THE BASICS:
-Go get yourself a prenatal vitamin. Any prenatal will do, so long as it has folic acid in it. You can get them from your local pharmacy. 
-Drink plenty of water. Like, more water than you think you need to drink. 
-Avoid alcohol and smoking. Don’t do hard drugs. 
-Use common sense when it comes to food choices. Personally, I eat exactly the same as I did pre-pregnancy. 
-You can continue your same level of physical activity that you were used to before pregnancy, unless your doctor advises otherwise. You can safely lift things up to 50 lbs and there is no reason for the average woman to stop working so early. 
I personally liked to learn about what pregnant women are generally advised to do/not do, and understand the why behind it all. That helped me make decisions for myself that felt rooted in reality and what is best for my situation, and not decisions based in fear. So, I recommend the website pregnantchicken.com (she has a great “Is it safe?” section) and the book Expecting Better by Emily Oster.

I worked up until week 39. The only thing I'd worry about right now is what your eating (no alcohol, no smoking, etc.) And get rest. Otherwise continue to do what you normally would :) Try not to expect too much from this first appointment. My OBGYN doesnt even see you until 8-10w along since women get so panicked of they go in at 5 or 6 weeks and there is no heartbeat (which is common, very often you cant hear the HB this early). Congrats!

find a local moms group, I'm sure they'll be happy to share their experiences with a new mom, and you might make new friends who are going through the same thing. it can be scary to go through it alone.

Congratulations! How exciting. I was born and raised in Portland Oregon, and have always wanted to visit Japan😍 there are resources in Portland, Check local community centers for new mom groups, or just ask around. Your doctor should be able to provide you with some information. They probably won’t see you until you are at least 7 weeks pregnant, because if it’s too early they won’t be able to see anything on the ultrasound. I used to work in an OBGYN clinic, so if you have any questions you can message me. Just enjoy this time, get rest, stay hydrated, no alcohol or smoking, no uncooked meat, hot dogs, deli meat, shellfish, undercooked eggs, soft cheese, herbal tea, excessive seafood, unpasteurized milk or juice. Start a prenatal, and invest in a nice cream. Also no aspirin or ibuprofen. I hope this helps❤️
