Baby Poop?

Question

How often does your breast fed baby poop? My little guy was going about 4 to 7 plus times a day, sometimes with every feed. He is 7 weeks old now, but today he has only gone 1 time. I’m not sure if this is normal for it to slow down or if I should be concerned? He does have reflux and spits up a lot. He’s still passing loads of gas, and has had 8 wet diapers in the last 24 hours.

Some babies go every time they eat and some can go up to 10 days without going. Both are completely normal as long as they are continuing to have enough wet diapers

Mine followed the same pattern. My pedi said it was likely because of a growth spurt and because breastmilk is "clean burning fuel" so you end up with less waste in the end. Mama Natural has a good blog post about baby poop

Totally normal. My LO used to poop 6-8 times a day, and then all of a sudden changed to a couple times a day. Some days she doesn’t poop... and then the next day she makes up for it! 🤣💩

My 8 week old poops once every 2-3 days. Doc said it was completely normal.

My LO is almost the same age and we just had the same thing. The next day, he went 5 times!
With that said, we had asked our lactation consultant and she said that around this age that’s totally normal. She only worries if it’s been more than 3 days without a poo. Not that I could imagine him going that long!

Mine routinely goes five days between poops. Our Lactation nurse at his pediatrician assured us it is fine since when he does go it’s soft and seedy. It’s just a huge Amon t because there’s so long in between! That said, the other IBCLC we are working with suggested it’s part of a greater GI issue since halos has reflux and we should switch to a partially hydrolyzed 100% whey protein formula for when we need to supplement, and/or add a probiotic

From birth to about 4ish months my baby was going several times a day and then it slowed down to 1-2x a day. Breast milk is easily digested and absorbed so i have read it can be normal to not go as much as 14 days! I think it’s whatever the normal pattern is for your little one. Now that i started solids with her (she’s 6 months) she hasn’t gone in a few days and I’m so anxious! Never thought I’d care so much about someone else’s poop.
