Emergency vs scheduled csection?

Hi mamas.. I’m looking for advice/tips and experience on how an emergency csection is versus a planned one. I have a 14 month old daughter who was born via emergency csection at 35 weeks because my water broke and then I had a placental abruption right after. I’m currently 8 weeks and 3 days and I asked my obgyn about the chance of a VBAC and he’s saying we will take it week by week but that more than likely we will do a scheduled csection. So to mamas who have done both, how is the scheduled one different good and bad? 
I also am required to take the Makena shots weekly to keep me pregnant and get me to full term.

So I am having my first SCHEDULED Csection with baby #2 in 5 weeks.  My son was an emergency csection which didn’t go as planned (my body didn’t process the pain meds correctly and I felt the whole process... fun).
 
So with a scheduled csection you will KNOW a day you will have your child.  My OB does it at 39 weeks.  You will have a time, but that could be pushed if an OR isn’t open.  You get a spinal tap which supposedly is different from the epidural and meds they give you for an emergency csection.  Your recovery is suppose to be faster as labor itself actually stresses your body a LOT and can cause your recovery to be more difficult.  
 
I DID have the option for a VBAC until recently, but I chose to go with a scheduled csection.  My second son is measuring BIG which caused my OB to take a VBAC off the table anyways, and I’m carrying super high again.  This in itself caused some problems with my first (he would literally jump up on my lungs every time I had a contraction which in turn meant I wasn’t dilating properly...).  
 
I will admit that I am super nervous about a second csection.  But for ME it was the better choice.  It’s not easy either, but everyone one of my friends that had a scheduled csection said it went way better than their emergency csection did.

My first was emergency and such an awful experience after 24 hours labouring. I’m 5 days post second scheduled and I’m mobile quicker although obviously I am in pain. I would also say that was my last. I didn’t enjoy the experience. Although you can’t feel pain you’re totally aware of everything going on - you feel every push and tug. I felt like my ribs were going to break from the pressure at one point. Everyone had told me going on how much better the experience would be but I wish someone had prepared me for that. It was overwhelming!

Scheduled is AMAZING! My first was unplanned and after 26 hours of labor and fully dilating before it I was exhausted during recovery. My second time around was a scheduled csection and it was the easiest delivery and recovery. I’m set to have my second panned csection in a few weeks and I’m looking forward to it

I had an emergency c-section with my first 18 months ago and just had a scheduled section 6 weeks ago. The experience was night and day. I actually remember the second one, the first was very hazy. I was up walking earlier and did it react as bad to the main meds (shaking and cold). The abdominal pain was a little worse afterwards but the nurse said that was normal for subsequent c-sections. After the 3rd day I felt pretty good and was very mobile in the hospital before coming home.

Emergency c section was awful, bad recovery traumatic and I took a long time to mentally heal, planed c section second time round was amazing. Calm, we had music, lots of post birth cuddle, so relaxed and much better healing. 3rd was great and best healing of the lot.
