Is it okay to have sex during pregnancy?

I didn’t think much of it (5 wks, 1 day) but my bo’s sister said it wasn’t safe in the first trimester reason being it could cause a miscarriage. I’m waiting for my Medicaid to come in the mail to have the first appointment and until then, I wouldn’t have access to a doctor to know so I was wondering if you guys have been told this, your opinions on this

Sex is perfectly fine unless your doctor says otherwise. I’m almost 36 weeks and my husband and I have had sex all through the pregnancy.

Having sex thought pregnancy is fine. My S.O. and I have (I’m about 9 weeks and 4 days) but we had to stop due to brown blood/discharge. It could be that I am extremely sensitive at this time but they told us to wait 5-7 days and try again.

As long as you’re not bleeding in the first trimester sex is perfectly fine. Where it becomes an issue is when you get later in pregnancy. If your water breaks or you have an amniotic fluid leak of any kind you’ll want to avoid sex because at that point there would be a hole in the placenta and by having sex you could be introducing bacteria and potentially cause the baby to have an infection.
