How can we better our coming gemeration of men?

Question

I do not have children yet but I can't help but think how I dont want my son(s) to be like many men I see today. Disrespecting people, degrading women, not knowing or willing to lead. Not knowing how to commit to things or people. I want my sons (and daughters) to be good people and help others and follow God. 
I work with teens once a week at church and I just don't know how to influence them to be a light in their world. If I don't know what to say to them what will I say to my own kids some day?

I have always been a firm believer in the significant role of a father, whether blood related or not. Boys will grow up watching a father-figure and learning what is appropriate behavior and attitudes. If they are lucky enough to have a godly father-figure, they will learn how to treat a wife, how to be successful without arrogant, and strong without boastful. Girls will grow up watching father-figures as well. Again, if they are lucky, they will learn to expect respect and love in a marriage, how to stand up for herself when necessary, and how to be strong in herself. The opposite of this is also true, in the lack of a father-figure (or a pathetic excuse of a father), a boy will learn to degrade women and be arrogant and boastful. Girls will expect to be treated as inferior in relationships. A father is the most underrated, yet incredibly significant role in society.

God tells us "train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6 KJV 
We need to teach our children from a young age what is right vs wrong according to the Bible. The earlier you teach your children about what the word of God says, the better they will be able to make decisions.

I think working with teens once a week and raising your own children are very different. 
With raising children you can instill these characteristics into them and reinforce them. 
I think raising them to be self-sufficient. There are no women clean and cook. Women can clean and cook and so can men. I think trying to keep them humble. Teach them to look at things from a different points of views. Asking them how they think someone else felt in a certain situation. Having them do charity work. Teach them about boundaries and how to respect them as well as how to respectfully set their own boundaries for other people. And know when to knock them off their high horse. It’s good for children to be confident but it’s not a good thing when they begin to believe they are the best or better than someone else. And most of all monkey see monkey do. So set a good example for them to follow. 
I often stress about this too. But these are somethings that just popped in my mind.

I work with youth in my church. 
What I've found is lead by example.
They see who you truly are through your actions. That's how you influence them. Listen to them, talk about topics they can relate to. There are occasions I have what I call "free speech" the kids speak their minds whatever the topic, even if they curse I let them finish what they're saying. Typically at the end of what they say, they ask is that wrong? What does God say about this? 
& I take that opportunity to share what the word says. 
The same goes for children. Lead by example. Be who you say you are, help them become men & women of God by living in LOVE & relationship with Christ. Not religion.
One of the things that I hear the most from the youth is that their parents throw the Bible at them, debate scripture & make them feel ashamed so they don't speak with them. That's not how you teach loving kindness.

You just them raise your kids up in Christ. From the time they are born, pray with them continually, read them Bible, take them volunteering and visiting the sick and old. Rise them to go good things and they will want to stay that way their whole life.
Much like the kids you help with all th e time. They were not raised well so they will not want to change. They want to be how they were allowed to be growing up.
