Can Benadryl be used for common cold symptoms as well?

I’ve been experiencing runny nose, sneezing, stuffy nose, and sore/itchy throat. Can I take Benadryl to help with these symptoms even if they aren’t allergy related?

When I have a cold I take a allergy pill too.
When my son is sick with a cold I give benadryl at night or he will be up all night with stuffy nose

It might help to a certain extent, but you might also need to get a decongestant.

No. Those two different medications focus on different parts of the immune system. It will not work.
