As I sit here contemplating different fertility options for my husband and I, I can’t help but feel broken-hearted. We haven’t been trying for years like some, but after 3 rounds of Clomid and 3 rounds of Femara, my OB has referred us to a fertility clinic.

As I called around to different clinics, they’ve mostly been saying the same thing, “I’m sorry, we only take certain insurances since fertility treatments are optional.”

Optional?? This rubbed me the wrong way.

From a health insurance standpoint, I guess I can try to see where it would seem optional, however, from the standpoint of someone who has a longing desire to be a mother... that’s not optional. It’s something you fight for & keep praying for without giving up!

So that’s what we are doing. Praying that God will open doors for us and help us to know which road to take next in our fertility journey.

Anyone else had to go to a fertility clinic as a cash patient when they didn’t do payment plans? Any IUI success stories?

Any tips are helpful at this point!
