When to start pumping

With my first I had to start pumping at like 3-4 weeks pp to get a supply built up for when I returned to work at 6 weeks. This baby I am taking the full 12 weeks. When is a good time to start pumping?

Waiting 6 weeks is recommended so that your milk supply gets well established first. If you start too early, your body will think baby needs more milk and you could end up with an oversupply.

I think it depends on the person they say wait at least 4-6 weeks to start pumping but when my milk came in it came in lol baby was not eating as much as I was producing so I started pumping around 3 weeks because I was in pain and soaking through shirts which ended up helping me because my fiancé was able to feed and let me rest sometimes, I fed baby first then pumped the rest and I did that all day so at night my fiancé could help with feedings, then I woke up full and would pump for 10 minutes and then feed baby! I would say when you feel the need to pump is a good time to start! I also took a break from pumping as much when my son started to cluster feed I was like empty😂 but once that ended I once again had to pump after every feed!
