Hurricane damage 😡😡😡

Y’all.... I can’t with my insurance company. To begin with we have used geico renters insurance(provided by assurant) for two years now, each year it has been paid in full. So for starters we have never missed a payment or been late cause it’s always been paid from the beginning. Hurricane Florence came and cause significant damage to not only our apartment complex but to our building. The unit next to mine has been COMPLETELY gutted down to the studs. My unit fortunately wasn’t THAT bad however our sons nursery is down to the studs and a portion of our master bedroom is down to the studs. And since we are on the bottom floor water can’t keep going down so it spread and damaged ALL of our belonging.

Annoying yes but not a big deal cause THATS WHAT INSURANCE IS FOR. We didn’t have flood insurance and we did NOT flood. There is structural damage to the building and roof where rain water came in and gravity, obviously, took it down to the lowest level.... our apartment. Which is EXACTLY what we are covered for if THAT happens, and it did...

Y’all... my claim has been denied TWICE. The first time our insurance handler asked how high our trim is, I say i don’t know maybe 3-4 inches. This fool said we had 4 inches of flooding and immediately closed our claim 😡

So I get a hole of the supervisor and he reopens the case and sends some out to investigate our PERSONAL property, not the building property. That guy marks everything as being damaged, cause it is, and submits the report. Our insurance handler 😒🙄 says they claim is inconclusive and needs to speak to a property manager. I’m like okay, so I give the property manager his info and she, along with the contractors here assessing the PROPERTY damage, both tell him that there is structural damaged cause by the hurricane to the roof and building that allowed for rain water to get in. This fool hags up calls me and says he’s denying our claim AGAIN because structural damage caused by a hurricane that allowed water in IS A MAINTENANCE ISSUE NOT AN INSURANCE ISSUE. Then proceeded to tell me there is nothing that can be done and to contact FEMA. FEMA came out two weeks ago and denied us and everyone else who put claims in because they didn’t expect this costly of damage 😡😡😡😡

So I get a hold of the supervisor AGAIN and this man instantly has an attitude and tells me things that were not said by the property manager and contractors and try’s to put words in my mouth that I did not say so that he can deny us. So now I’m obviously pissed cause we’re going on 3 weeks of jumping through hoops because they don’t want to do there job. So now I’m having to email photos of damages of the interior and exterior as well as get an official letter from ALL contractors AND the apartment companies insurance, which thank god is a different company, stating our damages cause our insurance is playing fuck fuck games.
