Is it cliche to write about success? (Read description)

These are this year’s college essay options

My friend wants to do Option C & talk about going to success.. it doesn’t even make sense. He says, he has a ticket to success, he will go there. I told him it’s cliche and stupid. My teacher told us to not even look at option C & the college we’re applying to is only accepting option A. Any other option won’t even be looked at. He asked where would I go if I chose that option & I said I’d talk about going to Honduras because that’s where I grew up for the first few years until we moved back to the U.S. he said that so many people would go there & it’s cliche, which isn’t true. Everyone would say something about going to Europe or Hawaii or Paris, & etc. I’ve never met anyone besides Hondurans who have said they’d go there in a heartbeat. Our main argument is if talking about success is cliche.
