Anyone here a CNA?

Ive been looking into becoming one, wondering for any advice?

90% of the class is common sense, it’s really easy. Just emotionally prepare yourself for it, it gets hard sometimes

I was a CNA from 2009 until 2017. I worked in nursing homes, rehab places, assistant living and home health. I even did personal hospice for my grandma who I took care of until she passed. The advise I can give you is dont stop at just CNA. It's long hours on your feet, depending on where you worked you will get hit, punched, kicked, urine and feces thrown on you, you will have dementia and Alzheimer's patients (this was more in nursing homes for me). I worked in places that the ratio was more then state allowed for one CNA. I worked all three shifts so I know the difference. You will see a lot of death again depending on where you work. I have pulled my back out several times and also sprained my shoulder. You will have to deal with patients lying on you accusing you of things, deal with patients family members doing the same. It wasnt all bad but I did get burnt out quite a bet. If you find a great place to work at and can actually love your job it can be rewarding. The actual class was very easy. You have written and skills part. Very common sense and basic know how stuff. I regret not ever going further then being a cna.

My husband was a CNA, after he finished the course he was hired to take care of hospice patients. Within his first 6 months he had 4 patients die, and he couldn't handle it and left the field. Not sure what advice to give as I didn't do it myself, but just giving you an idea of the kind of starting work you may get. Best of luck💕
