Two nights ago, my roommate and best friend of 7 years forced/held me to the floor during an argument and pushed all of his weight into my stomach and ribs with his knee. He was extremely drunk and it was over the stupidest argument. My stomach is still slightly sore and I have very small bruises on my upper arms.

He left me on the floor and left to take a shot of alcohol in another room, but came right back to apologize and see if I was okay.

My roommate is going through some tough times. He says he’s an addict and alcoholic, and while he knows it’s hurting the people around him, he has no plans to really stop or get better. The only reason he eats is because I buy groceries for both of us, but I’ve had troubles affording this.

We live in a house with some other friends, and all of the utilities are in my name.

Any advise on how to move forward/cope? I want to help my friend as much as I can and don’t want to cut ties.
